Missing landlord

Arcadia Law have experience in dealing with both Lease Extensions and Freehold Purchases where the freeholder is absent or missing.

Under the Leasehold Reform Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 (‘the 1993 Act’), there is provision to be able to extend your Lease or purchase the Freehold in the event that you do not know where your Landlord is.

The qualification criteria for following either of the routes is the same as detailed in our notes on Lease Extensions and Collective Enfranchisement but there is an additional element in that you must demonstrate to the Court that you have taken all steps to locate your freeholder.

We work very closely with tracing agents who specialise in this area of law and we are able to assist you with dealing with this additional stage.

We will then go on to deal with any applications to the County Court and/or Tribunal and deal with a vesting order or the grant of a new Lease.

Please contact one of our solicitors to find out more information about Missing Landlord matters.
